Hey Neighbors – wanted to give you all some updates on the Resource Center.
This was the first week that the Center was up and running completely on volunteer power. It was amazing to watch – volunteers were great and so many of you dropped by to donate items or say hello – everyone came together.
This coming week we have our next volunteer training so if you are interested in getting involved try to make it the Center this Wednesday from 6-7:30pm.
Here are some early numbers for last week compiled by John Parrinello – the volunteer coordinator for the Center.
“We have just completed our first official week at the center. I would like to thank all the volunteers for their assistance. We had an extremely productive and busy week. We found that as the week progressed the word got out in the community and the numbers of visitors increased.
We had a total of 49 visitors come by. They ranged from people wanting information about the center to people reporting problems in their neighborhoods. The last two days (Friday and Saturday), we had 28 visitors.
You will see some changes the next time you come in, from rearrangement of desks to a refrigerator and microwave. Bring food, we can now accommodate. We have more furniture and supplies coming over the next couple of weeks.”
As for donations – we still need stuff but so much has been donated that it will take a little while to sort through it – thank you all so much for your generous offerings and commitment to helping Natomas meet its crime and safety needs.
