In May, at the request of the community, my office in coordination with our Department of Parks & Recreation, submitted an application for grant funding from California State Parks Proposition 84 Round Two. If awarded, this grant funding would go towards the build-out of a portion of the North Natomas Regional Park and would include several attractive and important amenities such as a regional baseball complex, amphitheatre, a farmer’s market, children’s play area and outdoor gathering space. Below is a picture of the plan.

Many of you have asked how you can help. Below you will find a link to a letter with information about the significance of this amenity to our community. Feel free to write a letter on behalf of you and your family or collaborate with any groups you represent (PTSA, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, youth sports, neighborhood watch, etc) or share this with other neighbors and groups you are involved with. Be sure to sign your letter not only with your name but with your title. Examples are: “Mom, Dad, Natomas Resident, Coach, Concerned Neighbor, Avid Walker, Avid Cyclist, PTSA Member, School Volunteer, etc”.
Please send your letter of support directly to our office at:

Thank you for your support and dedication to our community.
Dear Angelique,
Thank you for leading the charge to have this park built. It is an important development on a variety of fronts, not the least of which include the beautification of Natomas, a new sense of community, and an increased cohesion within our area. I support this project and have invited friends to join me in this activity as well. Please let me know if there is anything I can do to help.

My son is older now, but if you asked either one of us, we would say that the days out in the park were our most blissful and, perhaps, the most formative. To this day, when he is in town, we still go out to the park and throw a baseball or football around.

The build-out of the North Natomas Regional Park is the single-most important initiative in this district.
As a coach for the North Natomas Little League the past three years, I can tell you first hand that there are not enough baseball diamonds in Natomas to accommodate the hundreds of kids who play baseball each summer here. So many times, we have had to share diamonds with other teams, cutting games and practices short. Other times, we have had to hold practices at parks that are just too far away and inconvenient for busy parents.
As for the Farmers Market, currently my wife and I drive all the way (20 miles roundtrip) to 8th & W on Sunday mornings to the one under the freeway. A brisk walk to the North Natomas Regional Park instead not only saves gas (and the environment), but encourages us to get off our lazy butts and walk!
I’m excited to ponder what type of sunset activities can be had at the amphitheater. Friday night concerts in the park maybe?
I really believe that having a fun place where families can congregate and spend time together will keep our residents here longer.
Let’s do this, fellow residents!
