We got great news for our District! As a District One resident, chances are that you have probably seen this building on your morning drive into downtown…

We are now one step closer from turning it into this:

As many of you know, I have been a strong supporter of this project from the very beginning and today, the “Powerhouse Science Center” was awarded a $7 million grant which will go towards the Earth and Sciences Center at this site.
The Earth & Space Science Center will feature a fulldome, 150-seat planetarium, an updated Challenger Learning Center, and interactive exhibits focusing on natural sciences. The Earth & Space Sciences Center is one of three learning centers that comprise the entire Powerhouse Science Center campus, an estimated $50 million project that has nearly completed its pre-construction phase. The Center is scheduled to be completed in 2013.
This is a huge step forward for our District, as this project will help to provide nearly 300 jobs for the area, revitalize the riverfront, and create a regional destination for schools, families and tourists.
