As District One has nearly 35% of the City’s parks, volunteers are needed to help give our parks the TLC they deserve. Our District One Parks & Youth Liaison, Andre Favila, coordinates with the community to set up park clean-ups, assists with maintenance and the day to day appearance of parks in District One. Andre works with volunteers and community groups to schedule, coordinate and lead volunteer activities, clean ups and workshops. Below is a list of volunteer programs:

Park Ambassador: A leader of an organized group that would like to maintain a park throughout the year.

Park Steward: An individual who would like to maintain a park, either one time or on a regular basis. This person can also choose to lead a park maintenance event with the help of the Parks Department.

Park Volunteer: A person that would like to volunteer for a particular event, or would like to be available for future events.

PLAY (Parks Leadership Academy for Youth) Group Member: A middle or high school student interested in learning what it takes to put together and lead a park maintenance event from start to finish. This includes interacting with community organizations/associations, creating flyers, recruiting volunteers through social media & other avenues, working with Parks Department, & more.

There are several volunteer options available for interested community members. To get involved please contact Andre at afavila@cityofsacramento.org
