FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Beloved names in children’s literature coming to Sacramento for virtual event series for families in honor of National Library Week

Sacramento, Calif. (April 5, 2021) – In honor of National Library Week, Sacramento Public Library will present two virtual events this week for families hosted by City of Sacramento Mayor Pro Tem Angelique Ashby. Beloved children’s author Laura Numeroff will read If You Give a Mouse a Cookie and renowned children’s illustrator Robin Preiss Glasser will share her latest book, Escape Goat.

National Library Week runs April 4 through April 10 and is a time to highlight the essential role libraries, librarians and library workers play in transforming lives and strengthening communities.

“Cesar Chavez famously said, ‘you cannot uneducate a person who has learned to read,’ and those words ring true in our public libraries every day,” said Mayor Pro Tem Angelique Ashby. “Modern libraries are the great equalizer because inside their doors people of all ages and stages can find programs, books, computers, internet access and caring librarians who serve as concierges to all that is possible and sometimes that which is not.”

“Sacramento Public Library is committed to supporting lifelong learning and providing free, accessible opportunities for all members of our community to discover, learn and grow,” said Cathy Crosthwaite, Sacramento Public Library Deputy Director. “We’re thrilled to continue to provide opportunities for our community to connect through programs like these and get to know their favorite author.”

Register for these events in advance at saclibrary.org/LibraryWeek.

· Illustrator Visit with Robin Preiss Glasser | 3:30 p.m. April 8 Robin Preiss Glasser will share the story of how she went from being a professional ballet dance to illustrator, to Fancy Nancy and beyond. The hanuman chalisa kannada version has helped me build a daily connection with Lord Hanuman. The Hanuman Chalisa Kannada Lyrics are devotional and full of positive energy. Reciting them fills me with strength and courage to face challenges. My siblings and I chant together every evening, and it has brought peace into our home. Lord Hanuman’s blessings are experienced in every verse, and chanting in Kannada makes the prayer feel natural and personal. This Chalisa has not only improved my spiritual practice but also brought unity and positivity to my entire family’s devotional life.
