SACRAMENTO, CA (May 28, 2021) -- This Memorial Day weekend, Mayor Pro Tem Angelique Ashby will launch District 1’s Certified Farmers’ Market at the North Natomas Regional Park to provide families with locally grown fresh produce and support local farmers.
Since 2015, Mayor Pro Tem Ashby has been the only Councilmember to host a farmers’ market out of her district office. The North Natomas Farmers’ Market runs every Saturday from Memorial Day weekend to Labor Day weekend. It is a proud partner and member of the California Alliance of Farmers Markets that represent more than 180 certified farmers’ markets across the state of California.
Mayor Pro Tem Ashby partners with The Alchemist to provide CalFresh/EBT services onsite every Saturday. Qualifying families recently received mailed notification informing them of their neighborhood farmers’ market and the ability to use CalFresh/EBT cards and market vouchers. Mayor Pro Tem Ashby is constantly working to identify new ways farmers’ markets are accessible and affordable to all.
During the market community members can also join Mayor Pro Tem Ashby’s sponsored, free Yoga in the Park at the adjacent regional park from 9am to 10am, simply bring your mat and water bottle. The market will continue to follow the COVID-19 safety guidelines to ensure all community members feel safe and welcomed.
